Board Meeting
Superior Township Regular Meeting
December 17, 2007
The regular monthly meeting of Superior Township was called to order by
Supervisor, Walter Hyvarinen at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call of Board Members: Walter Hyvarinen, Mary Ann
Charles, Kathy Munson, Charles Compo, and William Beaune. All board members
present.
Visitors: Frank Toms, Fire Chief; Debbie Freedman
Frank reported that there were three automobile accidents,
one in which they had to use the jaws of life to remove two people. They
received minor injuries.
ISO fire ratings changed. If you live within 1000 ft. of
fire hydrants, the rate went from 10 down to 6. If you are in five (5) miles of
the fire hall, your rating went from 10 to 9. If you are over five (5) driving
miles, your rate will remain at 10.
The fire hall roof is leaking.
Motion by Charles Compo and supported by Kathy Munson to
purchase a DVD/VCR player and TV for the in-house training library for the Fire
Department for approximately $300.00. Motion adopted with all members voting
yes.
Water Department
Motion by Charles Compo and supported by Mary Ann Charles
to accept the painting of the water tower bid package.
Projected Project Schedule: June 2nd – August
29th
Color: Blue
Bid Bonds: 10%
Liquidated Damages: $500.00 per day if not completed by
due date (August 29, 2008).
Bid Package
Water tower bid opening will be on February 6, 2008 at 2:00
p.m. Motion adopted with all members voting yes.
Reports:
Supervisor:
County Roads wanted an estimate on what we would spend on
roads in 2008. The board estimates $120,000.00.
Tilson Road
will be completed by the end of August.
The County Roads sent us contracts for road repair on
Main St
and 0.34 mile on the Irish Line.
Main St
$8,800.00 Irish Line $39,570.00
Motion by Charles Compo and supported by Kathy Munson to do
the 0.34 mile on Irish Line and the work on Main St. Motion adopted with all members
voting yes.
The County had to quit working on North Bound Road due
to the weather. We have paid our 50% up front on this.
Arnold Mills purchased a piece of property (014-055-011-00
- 9969 Shenandoah) and there has been questions on whether the “road” going past
it is a private road. The township found out that it is actually unclaimed
property. The township decided to acquire it from the county and it over to
County Roads.
Agenda:
Motion by Charles Compo and supported by William Beaune to
adopt the agenda as presented.
Motion by Charles Compo and supported by Kathy Munson to
adopt the minutes of the Regular Meeting dated November 14, 2007. Motion
adopted with all members voting yes.
Treasurer’s Report:
Motion by William Beaune and supported by Mary Ann Charles
to accept the treasurer’s report as presented.
Motion by Kathy Munson and supported by William Beaune to
pay the bills in the amount of $75,780.27 plus 270.00 electrician = $76,050.27
(lift station repair)
Clerk’s Report:
The January 15, 2008 Primary election is still up in the
air as it is in is in the U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids.
